After working with Disaster Restoration Companies for over 20 years, we recognize that our ideal clients are Restoration companies under $5 million. However, we often start with larger companies. We have found that the easiest time to embark on the change process is when the company is between $1.25 and $3.5 million.
Most of our clients perform full-service Disaster Restoration. Clients may perform janitorial, carpet cleaning, or other services, but restoration needs to be a substantial portion of the volume of work. Often, we help establish new profit centers in restoration trades that the contractor is not currently performing.
The owner of the company needs to be change-friendly as we will require that the agreed changes are implemented. We often work with partnerships and family businesses to clarify roles, responsibilities and expectations. Prospective clients need to be financially sound, as our costs and expected changes will require capital to implement. This is tough to quantify since many of the companies we start working with do not understand their financial condition. We expect that they can pay an initial evaluation and deposit prior to starting and the balance of our contract is to be paid on a monthly basis.
If a prospective client is in a small metro area with another client or an immediate past client we will not be able to work with them. We know too much about the clients to have a relationship in competitive marketplaces smaller than about 750,000 population.
